Intimate camps with personal service - vintage Africa.

The Okavango Delta, the big game Kwando River concession, Nxai Pan and the Central Kalahari Game Reserve - the highlights of Botswana in one seamless adventure.

From the beginning, the aim of Kwando Safaris was to build a Botswana circuit of the finest intimate, private and exclusive camps, to provide our guests with access to the very best that this remarkable region has to offer.

By definition a circuit implies a completion. We have designed the Kwando Safaris experience with that &qaot;completion" in mind. A full and extraordinary range of places, people and activities, that will complete an unforgettable safari. With all our camps in Botswana, we feel we have achieved the perfect balance of wildlife, culture and adventure.

However, due to the effects of globalisation there is the very real danger of commoditisation of the adventure turning it into another bland, "safe", predictable and repetitive sequence of franchise like camps with similar management styles and experiences. This is not what we offer. Africa is exciting, massive, diverse and alive and so are staff and camps. Our experienced and friendly staff will be there to guide and assist you every step of the way, from the moment you step off your international flight, to the sad day we bid you farewell.

Throughout your journey, there is one thing we can guarantee. The spirit of Africa and its people will touch you. It might be a herd of elephant against a blood red sunset, a relaxing Gin & Tonic as the sun sets over the bush or a simple handshake and a smile from a village elder.

Somewhere along the way, you will experience something uniquely African, leaving an indelible print on your memory.

While the majority of our guests will fly Air Botswana from Johannesburg to the booming Botswana frontier town of Maun, access to our circuit is possible from many points. Cape-town, Windhoek in Namibia, Victoria Falls, Livingstone or Lusaka in Zambia and Harare in Zimbabwe, are all possible conduits into the Kwando circuit - more info on International and regional flights

Anything and everything is possible!

Private charters from Johannesburg can prove very economical (and fun) for parties of four people or more. You can begin your safari with us in Victoria Falls and travel through to Botswana, or vice versa.

For the real adventurers, driving to Maun is very achievable (if long!) from South Africa and Namibia.

Should you choose to begin your safari in Botswana, Kwando guests can be taken to our private air conditioned lounge after being met by our staff or efficiently processed straight through to the waiting light aircraft transfer.

A relaxing drink, especially in the dry season, will ease you nicely into your safari. Onward transfers to all our camps are conducted on light aircraft charter flights. The Maun based charter companies and pilots we choose have impeccable safety standards - for more info http://www.moremiair.com

Once airborne again, you’re entering one of the last great wilderness areas on earth. Northern Botswana is recognized as one of the prime game viewing areas in all Africa. This huge unspoiled region extends from the beautiful Okavango Delta, north to the game rich Kwando region and eastward to Savuti and Chobe National Park. This region forms the heartland of the proposed immense Upper Zambezi Trans-frontier conservation Area straddling Botswana, Namibia, Angola, Zambia and Zimbabwe - one of the greatest wilderness areas on the planet.

Kwando Safaris has more than a million acres or some four thousand square kilometers of this wilderness for the exclusive enjoyment of our guests – shared over 6 camps

We operate two "concessions" as they are called in Botswana, one in the permanent water of the Delta itself and the larger Kwando concession in the far north famous for its large elephant herds and predator sightings. We also have a camp in Nxai Pan National Park and the Central Kalahari Game Reserve (Tau Pan)

See our safari itinerary we highly recommend, focused on the Kwando circuit.

Cape Town and Victoria Falls are the two top travel destinations in Southern Africa, while Botswana has become the destination of choice for exclusive game viewing and unspoiled wilderness. With Air Botswana now flying from Cape Town to Maun direct the perfect Southern African circuit is a breeze. Depart Cape Town after an early breakfast and in 2.5 hours land in Maun in another world of adventure. Conclude your adventure in Africa's heartland at Victoria Falls with just over1 hour flight to Johannesburg, Africa's bustling business capital.

We feel it’s a perfect fit and believe our Kwando Safari circuit to be the best available for the discerning visitor to Africa. Intimate, private and personal. We like to think of our guests as members of the Kwando family.

Add a substantial dose of adventure, a healthy serving of African culture and you have a holiday and an experience that you will cherish forever.

When staring out from your office window back in Manhattan, London, Munich or Sydney or switching on the television news at home in Chicago, Rome or Paris, we know from experience there’ll be moments you will again yearn for Africa.

Kwando Safaris will be glad to help you out if the urge to come back is overwhelming!

The ideal Kwando Safaris circuit includes at least 2 nights at either Nxai Pan or Tau Pan followed by 2 nights at either Kwara Camp or Little Kwara adjacent to the permanent waters of the mystical Okavango Delta, 2 nights at Lebala Camp on the edge of the Linyanti marshes in the massive big game Kwando River Concession, 2 nights at Lagoon Camp on the edge of a permanent lagoon under massive trees in the big game Kwando River concession (3 hours game drive north of Lebala). If you would like to continue north to Chobe or Victoria Falls – we are able to assist you with a variety of options.
